Life of a Cadet

As a Cadet at the University of Alabama, you are encouraged to take part in normal college life and various extra curricular activities. We encompass all that is the University life while still preparing you to become an officer in the United States Army.

Weekly Requirements

  • All Contracted Cadets wear their uniform one day a week, every Wednesday for Leadership Labs. The Cadets also wear the uniform for their instructional class period. For Freshmen cadets, this is only one day a week. For Sophomores, 2 days a week. Juniors, 3 days and Seniors, 4 days.
  • Physical Training- All Cadets must attend mandatory physical training sessions, 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) 0535.
  • Leadership Lab: Wednesday 1500-1700.

Summer Requirements

  • MSII Cadets attend Basic Camp at Fort Knox, KY between their Sophomore and Junior year for four weeks.
  • MSIII Cadets attend Advanced Camp at Fort Knox, KY between their Junior and Senior year for four weeks.

Graduation & Commissioning

Upon successful completion of all four years of Army ROTC and receipt of a Bachelor’s degree in any major, Cadets receive a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Cadets are eligible to commission into the Active Duty Army, Reserves or National Guard.
